How do I Join the Eagles - 6 easy steps to follow:
Step One: Surf this Site
You have already made the first step by getting onto our web site to find out more about the Eagles. Please take some time and surf this site. You will find a great deal of information. To the left are some links to send you to areas of our site that will answer your most basic questions.
Step Two: Contact the Eagles
After reading all of the information in this site. We are sure there will be many additional questions you will have. Questions like; In what Group will my child be placed? How does fundraising work? What part do parents play in the team? ETC… these are all common questions. We have included contact information throughout this site. You can call, e-mail, or stop by for a visit, we welcome all requests and questions about our team.
Step Three: Talk to the Coaches
Discussion with the coaches is a crucial step in joining the Eagles. Most likely when you call the Eagles you will be talking with Sam our full-time Head Coach. Sam personally interacts with all swimmers during practices and will be the one to help answer most of your questions about training, lessons, practice groups, etc. Sam and the other coaches are the ones who determine the swimmer's ability level relating to the group structure of the team, thereby placing the swimmer in the appropriate group according to their skill level.
Step Four: Visit the Pool
After your initial contact with a member of the coaching staff, please feel free to come to the pool to visit. (Pool Location.) Although you are welcome any time, the Eagles Swim Team has various Open House opportunities during the fall and spring seasons. These are ideal times to meet coaches, parents, and swimmers all in one place at one time. If you visit on a regular practice day, please observe everything that is happening and feel free to talk to parents, but please wait until the coaches have concluded practices to address questions to them.
Step Five: Participate in a Practice
One of the last and perhaps most important steps in joining the Eagles is to attend a practice with the group specified by the Eagles' coaches. Each new swimmer is given an opportunity to practice (tryout) with a practice group for 1 week prior to joining the team. As said before, the coaches need to make an assessment of the swimmer's skill level before they will be placed into a specific practice group. Everyone is welcome here at the Eagles, but by experiencing the Eagles practice the swimmer will gain a greater understanding of what our workouts are like and what they can expect from Eagles' practices. Step Six: Filling out the Application
The application for the Eagles is short and painless. There are a couple of forms that must be completed. The first is the Eaglez Team Application/information sheet. This simply lets us know who you are, the swimmers' ages, and how to contact you if necessary. This form is available by clicking here. The second form is a United States Swimming form. These forms are required by USA Swimming, Inc. which we are a member Club. USA Swimming provides insurance for the club, its coaches and swimmers so all members of the Eagles Swim Team must be members of USA Swimming. This form will be provided upon submission of the first form or you may click here.
